about

Hello!

I am an EMBO post-doctoral fellow at the University of Lausanne in the laboratory of Pr. Niko Geldner where I am studying root immune functions at cell-type-specific resolution.

Previously, I pursued a doctoral degree in the laboratory of Pr. Peter Moffett at the Université de Sherbrooke in the beautiful Province of Québec in Canada. My Ph.D. thesis provided insights into how pathogenic plant bacteria manipulate their host cells for their benefit. I was more specifically interested in how these little ones transform the extracellular space of their hosts, which they inhabit, into an oasis. As such, I studied how they create both a water- and nutrient-rich microenvironment in the extracellular space to promote their growth and virulence, as well as how plant cells fight back against the induction of pathogenic niche.

Before joining the Moffett Lab, I studied Molecular and Cell Biology at the Université de Sherbrooke (2014-2017). I had the chance to immerse myself in plant biology research through different internships during my undergrad at different institutions:  Université de Sherbrooke, University of Toronto, and the Max Planck Institute for Plant Breeding Research in Cologne.

I am also broadly interested in a variety of topics ranging from plant immunity to plant-plant communications. I am a strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in science and other areas of society.

Outside the lab, I try to use fermentation processes as much as possible: brewing beers, making sourdough bread, fermenting kimchi, etc. If I'm not fermenting something, you might find me hiking in the mountains.
